This layout is often preferred by English speakers because it is easier to remember the position of the letters. For instance typing Latin A would be Hebrew " א", B would be Hebrew " ב", Latin L would be Hebrew " ל " and Latin M would be Hebrew " מ". The other is a transliterated (or homophonic/QWERTY) layout in which Hebrew characters are mapped to the closest English keyboard counterpart.
